Monster Birthday Postapalooza

The night before her birthday saying goodbye to 5!

See you never number 5!

Well hello there number 6! I wonder what this year will bring....

Chloe getting in on the finger age action.

Last year I unknowingly started a tradition with a birthday present scavenger hunt. I wish that bright idea had never popped into my head. But alas, when a kid requests something you make it happen.

Reading her first clue!

Searching at the gray house for gift #1.

Found it!!!!

Checking out the next clue.

Clue #2 led her to her Granddaddy and Grandmama's house, which was real convenient since we were headed there to swim.

J.B. was so overwhelmed with excitement he couldn't keep his eyes open.

Clue #3 led her straight to the paint studio and another clue!

The last clue led her to her new bike.

Both girls received new bike helmets. Chloe loved hers very much!

After the rest of the gifts, Jeremy and the girls went swimming. Hutch only spent a few minutes in the water but he was well dressed for the pool.

The most delicious cake, oreo blizzard...

Getting ready to make a wish.

Hope you made it a good one baby girl!

Sunrise, Sunset

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

This year went by way too fast!

The Week Before

The week before Finn's birthday we had lots of stuff going on here at Scott House. First Hutch invented a new way to blow bubbles. There wasn't a whole lot of success in his endeavor, but if you ask him, he is one step away from patenting the technique.

On Wednesday, Finley took cupcakes to school to celebrate her birthday with her classmates. She chose apples with worms. Yummy!

Chloe enjoyed her leftover cupcake!

Hutch did too!

J.B. also had his first tub bath. We had a long wait for the cord to fall off but it finally did. So in he went for a good scrub down. He did not like it at all.

Then we had the last day of school which was hard for everyone. Finn cried a lot. She said "she would never see her teacher again and her heart was broke." I wasn't prepared for her to be so upset, but knowing how she reacts to big changes, I should have been ready with the tissue. Next year, Finley will be a huge first grader and Chloe will be attending preschool at the elementary school.

Fancy Wettin' Clothes

Here a few pics of the kids in their fancy wettin' clothes. I was super paranoid about getting something on them so they did a costume change before they got to roll down the hill at the reception. They were not too interested in posing for pictures either as you can see.

Goin' to the Chapel of Love

On Friday the 13th (ooooo spooky) we hit the road bound for T-town. We had a very important date to keep and we didn't want to be late. The kids travelled really well and most importantly, no one threw up. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we ran into E squared and my Uncle Jon. From that point forward, the cousin love fest was on! There was bed testing,

more bed testing,

holding "leeetle baybeez",

more hugging,

cheese faces,

and tv watching. This was a rare moment of stillness from these four.

Late on Friday night, after Finn and Chloe had tormented Molly the babysitter for a while, we let the kids in on a hotel secret. You can eat ice cream out of the carton if you want. They do not need to know that you can also do this at home.

I think they really liked it!

Saturday morning we ditched three of the kids with Aunt Sam and went to Target. To get there we had to drive past 15th Street and the tornado damage. More than two weeks had passed but it still took my breath away. Words are pretty inadequate since that town will never be the same. According to a sign in front of the rubble pile that was Krispy Kreme, they will be back. So will I and I can't wait to see that Hot Now sign flashing again.

After lunch, a short siesta, and a frenzied trip to the church I saw most of the wedding. I had to take Hutch out for a few minutes because he kept shoving his cup towards me saying "cheers!" loudly. Not exactly what you want the people around you to hear. The reception was a lot of fun and for a long time, the short cousins took over the dance floor.

There was also rolling down the hill (after a clothing change) and lots of yummy food. The kids even got to sit in the "limbo" and Chloe has requested one for her future wettin'.

Sunday morning we ate a late breakfast at IHOP and then went back to the hotel to pack up and take a few more pictures. For the record, there is one person we know that has less hair than Hutch.

A little more love for the "leeetle baybeez".
