Cartenwheels

For the past week or so, the girls have used their outside time to perfect their cartenwheels. They are getting better but still have a long way to go. Thanks to the fast action setting on my camera, I was able to capture the following sequences. Here is Chloe giving it her all.

This was a random shot from another set but I loved it!

Finn gives it a go!

Another random shot but look at those long legs!

For the record, Chloe is the one who has renamed these leg-flailing arm-swinging things "cartenwheels".

Play Ball, Tacos, Shiners, and the Biggest Belly Evah

This has been a jam packed weekend for us. Early Saturday morning, we had to be ready for teeball pictures and the opening day jamboree. As soon as we finished that, we had our first game of the season. Don't the girls look lovely as Diamond Dolls?

Chloe's first time at bat. She got a really good hit and actually ran to first base. Sometimes she skips, so this was an improvement.

Finley taking her turn at bat. Finn did well batting too and ran as fast as she could to first.

The whole hour of the game, neither girl was tagged out and both attempted to field balls when they had the chance. Notice I said attempted. It was rather warm out there and both girls asked "when will this be over?"

Hutch spent part of the day in the stroller and part of it climbing the fence. He likes to yell at the players and give them coaching tips in a language nobody understands but him.

One of Hutch's favorite meals is rice and beans. I think it has to do with the fact that that was his last meal he had before he was born.

Tonight Hutch was standing in his bucket of blocks and fell. Big surprise there, but I did tell him to get out. He managed to stop his fall with his face against the baseboard. Ouch! Hopefully it won't look too bad in the morning.

34 weeks and counting!

By the way, if you see me out and about it really helps if you say things like "Really? Six weeks to go? You look like you are going to pop!" Things like that make me feel real real good!

Funny Sayings

I was told recently that I don't write enough on the blog and that hundreds of funny sayings and phrases of the girls are not being recorded. So here goes a little wordiness from me:

Chloe: It's all about fashion. Don't tell me it's not all about fashion. Taa-Taa! She said this to her Daddy and did it with a flair that is signature Chloe.

Hutch has been blowing bubbles lately using an empty bottle of bubbles and the wand. He will dip the wand in, then hold it in the air while going "bbbbbbbbbpppptthhhh" with his mouth.

His new favorite words are baby, ball, Coco, and mik-mik (milk).

A couple nights ago the girls were singing a duet in the tub. Finn's song was "Mom is great, she's better than chocolate cake" and Chloe was singing the Punky Brewster theme song. The harmony was a little off but the sentiment was sweet.

There will be a lot more of these wordy posts in the future and hopefully it won't make my loyal readers abandon ship.

All Over The Place

I am trying hard to play catch up and get ahead before I get real busy. We are running all over the place with dance, tball, and church activities almost every night. Then we have school and homework (well sort of homework) plus time spent playing outside. At the end of February we finished up a successful Upward season and Hutch was really excited about it.

This was taken 2 1/2 weeks ago at 30 weeks exactly.

We attended a church activity that was capped off by a trip to the skating rink. Neither girl had ever been on skates but Finn was happy to give it a go.

She soon abandoned the real skates for some plastic ones and ended up having a blast.

Chloe started off with the plastic ones and really got the hang of it by the end of the afternoon.

A picture of how Hutch likes to sleep--booty high up in the air and feet crossed.

These were taken this afternoon. One of the things I love most about having a boy, overalls are always fashionable.

Chloe in a twirly whirly skirt.

Finn doing what her shirt says: dancing. For the record, she chose her outfit all on her own.

Ummmm, yeah....

Most of the time I am a bit more chatty but with the awesome weather we had recently and the fact that I was laptop-less for a whole week (THE HORROR!) I haven't had much time to keep up. For now, a few more pictures of us enjoying our new backyard and more.

Just as I pressed the shutter down, he started to tumble. No bald babies or little girls were harmed in the taking of this picture.

A safer way to ride in the wagon!

Love love love her!

Chloe missed out on most of the picture taking due to a finger injury. One bandage later she was all better.

Hutch has been fanatically trying out various modes of transportation available to him. He really hasn't gotten anywhere because he tends to travel in reverse.

At this point he was emphatically telling us he had no clue how to make the three wheeled thingamabob go.

The girls love to use their new dollhouse as a school and here is a representation of that very game. One was the girl class and one was the boy class.

This was the nurse's office. The turtle was being treated for an itchy shell with some cream and a little tlc.

Expanding

For the record, I am not talking about the size of my stomach even though the words huge and ginormous could apply to it as well. We just completed, with the help of a local fence builder, an expansion of our backyard. When we moved in we always said at some point we would put up a new fence as a safety precaution. Our house backs up to an alley that people seem to think is an interstate with the corresponding 65 mph speed limit.

A not so good shot of the before from last summer--it does show how the yard was divided though

The new backyard--we (meaning Jeremy of course) still have to remove the old sidewalk that ran alongside the chain link fence. The new sandbox will be here Friday and sometime in the next 6 weeks we will have the swingset. No, it isn't that grand of a set, there is just going to be a slight delay in construction since the job foreman will be busy elsewhere.

On the other side of the house we pulled the fence out to the edge of the house instead of where it was located.

A Little Dirt Never Hurts

Hutch had the best time playing in the dirt a few nights ago. He had to be bathed immediately upon entering the house and even had dirt in his ears.
